POSITION TITLE:         autism consultant

LOCATION:                   KPAS Central West Region – Dufferin

SALARY RANGE:           $ 19.35 – $ 24.18 per hour

POSITION STATUS:      Part Time

HOURS OF WORK:         22.5 hours per week (flexible days and evenings)     

CLOSING DATE:            4:30 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2008

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Manager of Community Supports, the Autism Consultant will provide support to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families as well as provide support to the Community Services Team.  The position is responsible for a wide range of services including: consultation to individuals, families, agencies and community groups; workshop development and presentation; intake role and direct support in various community groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant will have experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families in community settings, and with community agencies, along with strong verbal and written communication skills, organization skills and the ability to work independently and as a team player.  This position requires a good understanding of supporting individuals within the family unit, and the ability to understand and support the Community Services Practices to support the KPAS Mission statement.  Knowledge of Dufferin/ Wellington communities and formal and informal resources, as well as the ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends are required.

Post-secondary degree/diploma in Human/Social Sciences, or equivalent, and a minimum of 1 year experience working with community support services is required.  Current CPI certification and crisis intervention skills are mandatory.  Current First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.

A current Drivers License with a minimum G2 standing, additional insurance (such as 6A rider), and a reliable vehicle are required for this position.
