POSITION TITLE:          Overnight sleep

LOCATION:                    KPAS Toronto  Region

SALARY RANGE:           $ 8.75 Hr.                        

POSITION STATUS:       Part-Time

HOURS OF WORK:         10 p.m. – 8 a.m. (includes weekends)

CLOSING DATE:             4:30 p.m., May 20, 2008

 Key Responsibilities:    

 Reporting to the Manager, the Autism Support Assistant will assist the Autism Support Associate in providing support, coaching and training in the areas of: social/life/academic skills, communication, behaviour management, vocational and leisure activities, to individuals with autism residing in Toronto. This position may include supporting people in crisis back up.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have proven practical experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, along with strong skills in the areas of verbal and written communication, motivation and teamwork, the ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations.

Post-secondary degree/diploma, preferably in Human Services or completion of Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) and 1year of related experience, preferably supporting people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, are required.  CPI certification and crisis intervention skills are required. Current First Aid/CPR/Pharmacology certification and knowledge of Autism/Dual Diagnosis/Mental Health are considered assets.
