POSITION TITLE:                MANAGER OF COMMUNITY SUPPORTS

LOCATION:                     KPAS Central West: Community Services

SALARY RANGE:             $23.41 – 29.26 per hour

POSITION STATUS:        Full-Time

HOURS OF WORK:          40 hours per week (flexible hours required including some

                                        evenings and weekends and on call responsibilities)

CLOSING DATE:             4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2008

Key Responsibilities:

Providing support and guidance to full community services team in Central West in all areas of support.  Potential oversight and support to projects of: Family and Community Consultations / Community Respite and Children’s Respite Home / Sibshops / Intense Family Support Project / Resource Supports / Intensive Behavioural Intervention / Employment Supports / Day Supports / Family Support Groups / Community Workshops / Staff Development (specific responsibilities to be worked up with management team).  KPAS Community Services management responsibilities consistent with the attached job description and best practices.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have post-secondary education in Human / Social Services and five years experience as a social services manager or five years of hands on support in the social services field with the specified educational requirements.  Good understanding of community supports for children and adults with ASD.  Good understanding of families experiencing high stress levels and supports which are helpful.  Experience working closely with families with both children and adults with ASD living at home.  Understanding of Child and Family Services Act.  Strong verbal and written communication skills.   Ability to work well within a team to provide support and strong leadership skills required.  Ability to work flexible hours is required and share on call responsibilities.  Ability and willingness to travel across the Central West Region communities to offer team support.  Knowledge of the Central West Region and communities required.

A current Driver’s Licence with a minimum G2 standing, 6A insurance coverage, a reliable vehicle and the flexibility in traveling to serve the communities of Peel, Halton, Dufferin, Wellington, Waterloo are essential.
