On November 16, 2017 Mitre moved to the one of our Thomasburg homes as he required an environment that could provide more staffing support for his needs.  The home he moved to ensured he was part of the transition plan and they gave him the opportunity to arrange his room the way he would like it.  The staff were amazing and made Mitre feel comfortable from day one.  After only a week Mitre wanted to take part in community outings and started to attend weekly swimming and bowling activities in Bellville.

Mitre likes consistency and routines so the staff created a schedule that enabled him to have a morning drive each day to the Tweed office to see Carol and then a trip to the store to purchase his apple juice.  Since moving to the Thomasburg home, Mitre has been helping with his laundry and going for walks around the property.  With the support of the staff around menu choices and becoming more active Mitre has lost approximately 20 lbs in just 2.5 months.

The success of Mitre shows that with the right environment and with staff support and encouragement how well the people we support are able to grow in such a short amount of time.

Im very happy to hear Mitre is doing well. I am happy he has the staff that can support him with his day to day activities and to provide him with the best life he can have at KP. Thank you everyone.
