Groups and Camps

A variety of social and recreational opportunities for individuals of all ages and their families. A participant fee is charged to cover program costs.

Group Learning Sessions (GLS) and Workshops

These sessions consist of a variety of topics related to Autism Spectrum Disorder. Parents / caregivers are strongly encouraged to attend them as they are a great way to learn and understand how to help your child.

Consultation Services

Consultation Services are available to families who require additional support, above and beyond what can be provided through our other Community Service options (i.e. Group Learning Sessions, Social Groups, workshops, etc.) With assistance from Community Services Access, families will identify 1-2 SMART goals for a consultant to support them with. Support will be provided on a time-limited basis, based upon the goal(s) identified and the individual/family’s level of need.

Resource Centre

Families can access information about the diagnosis of ASD. Kerry’s Place provides information about other local services and opportunities that people with ASD may benefit from. There is also a book lending library located in Durham and Belleville.

Foundations

The Foundations Program is a goal driven service, to assist adults aged 18 and older in developing improved functioning and coping skills in the areas of life that include Employment, Education, and Community Integration. Participants will need to qualify for and be registered through the Developmental Services of Ontario (DSO).

Children’s Respite Flex Funding

The Children’s Respite Flexible Funding is from the Ministry of Children and Youth Services to serve as an enhancement for families in Durham Region to access respite services in their community.

Day Supports

The Day Program supports adults with ASD aged 18 and older. Participants are encouraged to build new skills in the areas of employment, recreation, life and social skills, and pursue educational opportunities in their communities. Participants will need to qualify for and be registered through the Developmental Services of Ontario (DSO).

Fees /Assessment

Respite

Respite is a service which provides temporary relief for the family or caregiver of a person with a diagnosis of ASD. Respite services may be provided in home and/or in a community setting.

Consultation

Consultation is a support provided to people of all ages to address interests and challenges through customized services and resources. Autism Consultants meet with the person with ASD and/or the person/people that support them at locations within their community.

Customized Training, Group Learning Sessions and Workshops

Professional and educational workshops are available for: respite workers, family members, School and School Board Personnel, Health and Mental Health Sectors, agencies, and local businesses, etc. Additionally, Information sessions are available in a group setting. Trainings, Group Learning Sessions and Workshops are offered in a variety of locations throughout the East Region.

Clinical Services

A range of clinical services are available to other service providers on a fee for service basis. Supports include Behavioral Consultation, Environmental Assessment and Practical and Theoretical Training for Management Staff

Behavioural Based Services

Eligible ‘Autism One-Time Funding’ may be used for Behavioural Services and Supports provided by Kerry’s Place Autism Services, which include:
– Behaviour Consultation
– Life Skills and Social Skills Programs Out-of-school learning support/tutoring ASD specialized therapeutic activities and camps
– Respite Parent Training
– General recreation activities/lessons Accessing Services
