Kerry’s Place is excited to offer Transitional Aged Youth Socials (TAY Socials): Pathway to Independence, which focuses on daily living skills. The program is created for youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), aged 16-18, transitioning towards independence in completing routines, healthy eating, employment skills, post-secondary supports and social awareness.
There are ten weekly online sessions where participants will participate in fun and interactive activities, games, and lessons to help promote the development of new skills. Sessions are geared towards the following topics:

Week 2: Healthy Eating Pt.2
Week 3: Job Readiness
Week 4: Interviewing Skills
Week 5: Financial Literacy
Week 6: Identity
Week 7: Managing Emotions
Week 8: Online Safety
Week 9: Post-Secondary Support
Week 10: Wrap-up and Review
Participant Age: 16-18
Ratio: 3:1 (6 participants)
Cost: No cost
Location: Virtually, Session will be delivered live via Zoom and the following are required to participate:
Orientation Date: Wednesday, August 4, 2021, 5:00pm-7:00pm
Start Date: Monday, August 9, 2021
End Date: Friday, August 20, 2021
Orientation: Once participants have registered for the group, an invitation will be extended to join the orientation via zoom. The orientation is an opportunity for the youth and their families to be introduced to the program and for Kerry’s Place staff to ensure that participants can benefit from the program. The orientation will consist of an informational component for participants and their families and an opportunity for participants to interact with the group and complete a pre-test.
Participants will receive confirmation of group enrollment following the orientation.
Participating in a group orientation does not guarantee that the youth will be enrolled in the program. However, if we are unable to offer your child a spot in the program, we will do our best to connect you with an alternative service to suit your child’s needs.

Cancelled by Kerry’s Place: Kerry’s Place may cancel a program due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. If this occurs, and the activity cannot be rescheduled, participants will be notified as quickly as possible and attempts, within reason, will be made to help the attendee enroll in a new session.
Cancelled by Supported Person/Family: For the purposes of effective planning, when possible, Kerry’s Place appreciates five business days’ notice of cancellation before the start of the workshop/training.
