Kerry’s Place Autism Services is Canada’s largest service provider to families with children, adolescents, and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our Mission is to enhance the quality of life for persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder and to empower them and their families, through evidenced-based, innovative, and person-directed supports.
Each year we help to over 8000 individuals and their families through a variety of programs including those for children and youth under the Ontario Autism Program, adult skill building and peer support groups, employment programs and respite options. We also provide residential and semi-independent living supports for adults with ASD at 90 distinct properties across Ontario.
Board of Directors Opportunity
We are looking for a new Board member with a strong accounting and financial management background, most likely with experience as a CFO or as an audit partner, and with prior board experience in either the for-profit or not-for-profit sectors. In addition to joining the Board, the new Director will become a member of the Audit and Finance Committee, which monitors and reviews all financial matters (including ongoing reporting to the Board, reporting to the Ministry and other stakeholders, financial policies and investments) and reports on these to the Board.
Board members are responsible for ensuring the appropriate governance of Kerry’s Place including the development and approval of the strategic and operating plans, ongoing stewardship against those plans and the establishment and review of policies. The Board, working with the CEO and senior management, plays a key role in helping people with ASD live the most fulfilling lives possible.
Board Membership Details
Board membership is for a 3 year term, renewable for an additional 2 terms. The Board meets quarterly in person, generally at our North York offices. There are also about 4 one hour conference calls per year. The Audit and Finance Committee meets 6 times a year, normally by conference call. Board membership is a volunteer position.
