The Children’s Respite Program has been working hard these last few weeks on an Outreach Initiative to families whose respite supports have been or may be impacted by COVID-19. This initiative started as an idea from Autism Support Associate, Kate Robb, and Behaviour Technician, Samantha Heinrichs, in an effort to find a meaningful way to connect with families and support them from a distance during this time of social distancing.
This initiative included a phone call questionnaire completed by Support Associates, Assistants, Behaviour Technicians, and Autism Consultants giving us an opportunity to get a better understanding of current stressors and how we can offer guidance and/or resources.
In response to family feedback, as well as in celebration of Autism Awareness Day on Thursday April 2, 2020, the Children’s Respite Program delivered Autism friendly activity bags to family homes across Peel, Dufferin, Wellington, and York Regions!! We are thrilled with the family feedback and want to thank ALL the staff and families that participated in making today a great celebration!
ENJOY SOME PHOTOS FROM THE DAY!
