April 18 @ 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Discover My Route is a travel training program designed to teach people 18 years of age and older with Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder how to use public transit independently in Toronto.

The program has been created in partnership with Kerry’s Place Autism Services, Toronto Transit Commission, Geneva Centre for Autism, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Salvation Army Lawson Ministries, Community Access to Transportation Hamilton and Community Living Toronto.

For the program to be a good fit for the applicant, they must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome or Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Want to learn how to travel alone in the community
  • Commit to attending eight 2 hour classes (6 students per class)
  • Commit to learning a new transit route with an instructor, working one on one
  • There will be up to 20 hours of route training to learn one round trip.
  • Towards the end of the training, the instructor will follow the participant from a distance once they are confident that the participant can travel the route on their own.

Ages: At least 18 but less than 100
Gender: Coed
