Whether a child is entering kindergarten, has been learning at home, or is new to the Ontario school system, the transition to school for the first time can be intimidating for children and their parents and caregivers. This workshop will provide parents and caregivers with strategies that can help support a transition into school for the first time.
Parents and caregivers will leave with knowledge about why persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may experience challenges with school-related transitions, ideas and strategies to prepare their child or youth for their first time at school, and information on how to navigate school-related community resources.
This Foundational Family Service is intended for children and youth, aged 0-17, who are registered in the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) and are, or will be, experiencing a transition to school for the first time. This Foundational Family Service workshop is led by an Autism Consultant or a Behaviour Therapist.
This workshop will be delivered live via Zoom, and the following is required to participate:
Date: Wednesday September 1, 2021
Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Cost: there is no cost to participate
Please Note: Registration does not guarantee a space in this webinar. To be eligible, confirmation of OAP registration and completion of a Kerry’s Place Autism Services intake meeting and consent forms will be required.
