Do you enjoy playing online video games? Are you interested in learning about how they are created? Well then, this group is for you! Our curriculum will introduce participants to the elements of coding and how these elements work together to create video games. This group will use block-based, drag-and-drop coding in programs such as Scratch and Code.org. This group requires basic computer skills and a motivation to want to learn about computer programming.
Participant Age: 14-18
Ratio: 5 participants to 1 staff
Location: Will be delivered live via Zoom for Professionals and the following are required to participate:
• Mobile Device, Tablet or Computer
• An internet connection
• Speakers and a microphone
• A webcam
Start Date: Monday, October 18, 2021
End Date: Monday, December 20, 2021
Phone Screening Session: Prior to registration for this group, the youth will participate in a phone-screening session to help our experienced staff make recommendations for the suitability of the youth to participate in the group session. Decisions will be made based on individual support needs and in consultation with the youth and their caregiver. Participating in phone-screening session does not guarantee that the youth will be able to be enrolled in future groups or services, and additional pre-screening sessions may be required.
Please Note: To be eligible, completion of a Kerry’s Place Autism Services intake meeting and consent forms will be required.
