The Code is a 12-week group-based program aimed at providing teens with the foundational skills needed to understand the concepts of coding, and how they contribute to creating video games. By participating in The Code, participants will develop confidence in understanding the concepts of coding, strengthen their computer skills, practice the fundamentals of block-based code, drag-and-drop coding, and meet others with a similar interest. Participants are required to have an interest in learning about coding, the ability to read and write, and basic computer skills. Prior coding experience is not required for joining this group.

Pre-Screening Session: Prior to registration for any group, the child or youth will participate in a group pre-screening session. A group pre-screening session is an opportunity for the child or youth to see what a group at Kerry’s Place Autism Services looks likes. Based on the staff members’ observations during the group pre-screening session, and in consultation with the child or youth and their caregiver, our experienced staff will make recommendations for any service that might best meet the needs of the child or youth. Participating in a group pre-screening session does not guarantee that the child/youth will be enrolled in a particular group or service. Pre-screening sessions are valid for 6 months and are only needed once prior to registering for a group.

  • Last Available Pre-Screening Session: Thursday, September 15, 2022
  • Registration opens: Monday, July 25, 2022
  • Registration closes: Thursday, September 29, 2022

Cancelled by Kerry’s Place: Kerry’s Place may cancel a program due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. If this occurs, and the activity cannot be rescheduled, a full refund will be issued with no administrative fee charged.

Cancelled by Supported Person/Family: Cancellation must be received at least seven days before the start of the workshop/training. A full refund, minus a $25.00 administrative fee, will be applied when seven days’ notice is provided. If seven days’ notice is not provided, a full refund will only be issued if the vacancy can be filled. Refunds will not be issued for a missed day during a training session.
