The Code 2.0: Intermediate Coding and Programming

March 26 @ 6:00pm - 7:15pm

Tuesdays from 6:00pm-7:15pm (March 26th to June 11th)

Kerry’s Place Autism Services is excited to offer a new coding program for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This group will expand participants’ understanding of computer programming, and teach coding using Javascript. This group is open to adults with ASD ages 18+.

Do you enjoy playing online video games? Are you interested in learning about how they are created? Well then, this group is for you! This group will offer you the opportunity to expand on your foundational knowledge of coding, and help you to learn more intermediate coding concepts. You will meet and work with like-minded individuals who have an interest in programming, software development and web design!

Our 12-week group curriculum is designed by award winning Computer Science and Engineering teacher and course director, Terry Prezens. He will be leading the group through lessons in creating programs, problem solving and troubleshooting using Code.org and Javascript.

This program requires fundamental computer skills and the motivation to want to learn about computer coding. Previous knowledge of coding using written code or block-based coding, game design, computer programming, or computer science is strongly recommended.

This program provides a curriculum that covers intermediate-level coding concepts, and many of the participants will have had prior experience with coding. If you do not have any prior coding experience, please contact the email below for information on our introductory coding group.

By participating in The Code 2.0, individuals will:

  • Develop confidence in their understanding of coding concepts.
  • Strengthen their computer skills and coding skills using Code.org
  • Practice the fundamentals of Javascript
  • Learn about coding in the workplace and post-secondary education
  • Meet others with a similar interest
  • Have Fun!
