The Ontario Autism Program (OAP)
The Ontario Autism Program will ensure autism services for children and youth are delivered consistently across the province, allow for flexibility and choice based on each child’s needs, and give families confidence in receiving quality services. Learn more about the Ontario Autism Program (OAP).
To access residential supports in Ontario, participants will need to qualify for and be registered through the Developmental Services of Ontario (DSO). For your local DSO office number, please refer to the Developmental Services of Ontario website.
Kerry’s Place provides a variety of workshops throughout our region. We are able to work with parents, community partners and schools to provide information and strategies on a large number of Autism related topics. Some of the subjects we have covered are an introduction to autism, communication strategies, navigating the special education system, and make and take visuals. We are happy to modify our information to be relevant to any audience from school aged children to adults. Learn more and register for Workshops.
Kerry’s Place sibshops (sibling workshops) are run in conjunction with Extend-a-Family, with support from the YMCA. These groups provide an opportunity for youth aged 11-17 years old who have siblings with ASD and/or a Developmental Disability to meet, learn and share experiences together in a safe and structured environment. Themes explored will include; concerns of embarrassment, guilt, isolation and resentment, tolerance and developing a relationships with my siblings, amongst others. For more information on Sibshops, please contact Meghan Wingrove at firstname.lastname@example.org or (519) 748-2513 ext. 22.
